New to crypto?
Welcome to the trenches. If crypto, blockchains, and wallets are all new to you, start here. You can learn to read a report before putting money into a trade.
Get your bearings
Section titled “Get your bearings”- Crypto means digital assets recorded on a blockchain, a shared record of transactions.
- Solana is one blockchain Trenchy scans. SOL is its native asset, used to pay network fees.
- EVM networks are blockchains that use Ethereum-style
0xaddresses. Trenchy offers basic token scans on configured EVM networks; each network can have different data available. - Tokens are assets on a blockchain. Names and symbols can be copied; a Solana mint address or EVM contract address identifies the token you intend to scan.
- Web3 is a broad name for apps that use blockchains and wallets. Using one does not make an investment safe.
- A swap exchanges one asset for another. Liquidity is the supply available to trade against; limited liquidity can make a trade expensive or impossible.
For more background, read Solana’s introduction to the network.
Wallets, addresses, and keys
Section titled “Wallets, addresses, and keys”Your assets are recorded on the blockchain. A wallet lets you see them and authorize actions.
- Wallet address
- The public destination for receiving funds. Copy it from your own wallet. Sharing it can reveal your public transaction history.
- Token mint or contract address
- Identifies a token, not your deposit destination. Solana uses a mint address; supported EVM networks use a
0xcontract address. Verify it before scanning or trading. - Private key
- A secret that can authorize access to a wallet’s funds. Keep it private. It is never needed for a scan or a support request.
- Seed / recovery phrase
- A backup, often 12 or 24 words, used by many wallets to restore their keys. Protect it like a private key. Not every wallet setup gives you one.
You do not need to create a Trenchy wallet or share a private key to scan tokens or use Watcher. Trench HQ and Trading are coming soon for general users.
Never paste a key into a token scan, group chat, support conversation, or a website someone sends you. If you save a wallet backup, keep it securely offline, away from screenshots, email, and shared devices. Learn more about wallet basics.
Secure Your HQ
Section titled “Secure Your HQ”- Open the official @TrenchyBot from this link. Check the username, not just the avatar or display name.
- Enable Telegram’s two-step verification, review active sessions, and lock your device. Access to your Telegram account matters for your bot account and any future wallet use.
- Ignore unsolicited “support” messages, surprise airdrop links, and requests to “verify” or “synchronize” your wallet. Support does not need your key, seed phrase, or login code.
- Read what you are authorizing. Outside Trenchy, connecting a wallet and approving a transaction are different actions; an unexpected signature request deserves a pause.
- Avoid keeping your entire crypto balance in a wallet you use for experimental tokens and unfamiliar apps.

Your first steps with Trenchy
Section titled “Your first steps with Trenchy”- Open the verified bot. Follow the @TrenchyBot link here and check its username before sending anything.
- Start with a scan. Follow Your first scan and read the warnings. A report is research assistance, not an approval or a guarantee that you will make money.
- Check the exact token address. Names and symbols can be copied. Compare the Solana mint or EVM contract in the report with the one you intended to scan.
- Investigate what stands out. For Solana, use Token Data, Warnings & Alerts, and Deployer Intelligence. For EVM, read the available report sections. Evidence may be incomplete on either network.
- Follow a wallet if useful. Trench Watcher can alert you to detected activity from a wallet you choose; an alert is a lead to investigate, not proof that a token is safe.
